Memorandum of Understanding

between Crandall University and HEMS Home School

 

Being of tlike mission an intent to be premier transformational communities, with curricular and co-curricular activities focused on the developemnt of the whole person through worship and community engagement, these institutions do enter into a memorandum of understand whereby HEMS (Helping Encouraging Mentoring Serving) Home School secondary students and graduate members are given preferred and advanced entry at Crandall University.

COLLABORATION.

1.General Scope.

Crandall University will reserve seats within the  Arts, Business, or Science programs of study.  Graduates may enter with preferred admission, and current HEMS members may be dually enrolled in both home education courses and Crandall within specified first year courses.

2.  Guaranteed Pathway for HEMS Graduates.

Graduates from HEMS member families, with the criteria for degree admission (HEMS member students) will receive an unconditional Offer of Admission to Crandall University, and a reserved space within the first-year class of the University for the Program of the student’s choice.

Graduates from HEMS member families will automatically receive the Jackson Entrance Award.  This awards students who graduate from a Christian-based home school, and is currently valued at $1,000.

Graduates from HEMS member famliies will be automatically considered for the Board of Governors Entrance Scholarships.  These awards are open to students with an admission average of at least 80%, and are currently valued at up to $8,000.

Graduates from HEMS member families will also be considered for the Leadership and Service Scholarships.  These scholarships award students who provide evidence of significant Christian leadership involvement within their high school years.  Such involvements may include the applicant’s service in the local church, camp ministry leadership, community engagement, mission trips, or other acts of Christian service.  These award students with an admissions average of 80%, and are currently valued at up to $1,500.

Graduates from HEMS member families will also be considered for the Colburne and Mitton Leadership and Service Scholarships.  These scholarships award students who provide evidence of significant Christian leadership involvement within their high school years.  Such involvements may include the applicant’s service in the local church, camp ministry leadership, community engagement, mission trips, or other acts of Christian service.  These award students with an admissions average of 80%, and are valued at up to $6,000.

Graduates from HEMS member families are alo eligible for any other additional awards, including Athletic Awards, offered by Crandall for which they qualify.

3.  Guaranteed Dual Enrolment for HEMS member students.

Seniors from HEMS member families, upon recommendation of the HEMS executive Director and acceptance of the Crandall Director of Admissions, will be permitted to enrol in up to two (2) specified first-year courses at Crandall during their final year of high school studies.

Upon successful completion of the course(s) at Crandall, the credits earned will be counted toward both their high school credits, as well as toward a degree program at Crandall.  This offers HEMS member students an advanced opportunity for university studies.  As preferred pathway and dual enrolment students, HEMS member students will be enrolled with a flat fee of $250 per course.

Additionally, a senior student for a HEMS member family, upon recommendation of the HEMS executive Director, will be permitted to enrol in ID1000: Introduction to University, at Crandall.  (During their high school studies).  This seminar presents learning strategies, resiliency training, academic resources, time management skills, and more, by learning and faculty experts.  As preferred pathway and dual enrolment students, HEMS member students will be enrolled free of charge.

HEMS “dual enrolement” students will be invited to attend Chapel services up to two times per week, or when on campus for classes.

HEMS “pathway” students will receive complimentary access to the Chargers Fitness Centre, as well as to all Chargers varsity athletic games.

4.  Other benefits for the preferred pathway HEMS graduate.

HEMS pathway students, once enrolled at Crandall,will receive complimentary access to the Chargers Fitness Centre on campus, and family members will receive a 10% membership discount.

The parents or guardians of HEMS members whose graduates are enrolled at Crandall, may themselves enrol in the Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Management (designed for adult learners without an undergraduate degree), or the Master of Organizational Management (for those with an undergraduate degree) and receive a $250 bursary toward the cost of tuition.  All admissions criteria must be met for each program.

ADDITIONAL BENEFITS FOR HEMS.

  1.  Current HEMS members may us Charger Athletic facilities at a preferred partner rate of a 25% discount.
  2.   HEMS member students will receive reserved and guaranteed spaces in any Charger Athletics camps.

LOGISTICS FOR HEMS.

  1.  HEMS will provide Crandall with regular opportunities to promote the program and develop relationships with students each semester.
  2.  HEMS will provide Crandall with regular opportunities to promote the program and develop relationships with parents and guardians each semester.
  3. Distribute materials provided by Crandall regularly.
  4. Invite a Crandall representative to all graduation ceremonies if applicale; this representative will be permitted to present HEMS graduates with Entrance or other awards as applicable.
  5. HEMS will provide for seniors, and other invited guests, to attend one on-campus event each year at Crandall.  (Crandall’s Open House or Campus Visit Days)
  6. HEMS will promote this MOU thoroughly at all recruitment events.

RENEWAL, TERMINATION AND AMENDMENT.

  1. Duration: This MOU shall remain in force for three years from the date of the last signature.  Either party may terminate this MOU by providing sixty (60) days written notice to the other party.
  2. Extension and Renewal: The parties may extend or renew this MOU by agreement, confirmed in a written amendment signed by each party’s authorized signatory.
  3. Amendment: Amendment of the terms of this MOU may be made in writing and signed by each party’s authorized signatory.
  4. Binding Obligations: This MOU is not intended to create any legally binding obligations on either institution but, rather, is intended to facilitate activities and discussions regarding general areas of cooperation and mission.

Each party represents that the individuals signing this MOU have the authority to sign on its behalf in the capacity indicated.
