Through the Holy Spirit
2. God communicates with me through the Holy Spirit:
If you’ve ever read the book Pinocchio, you will remember little Jiminy Cricket. Jiminy’s sole ambition was to see the very best for young Pinocchio. Jiminy encouraged, prodded, protected and interceded on Pinocchio’s behalf. Pinocchio was trying to become the best boy he could be and he relied on Jiminy Cricket to help guide him. Pinocchio didn’t always heed Jiminy’s counsel but Jiminy never left him, he was always there no matter how far Pinocchio went or how stubborn he was to have his own way.
Jesus said that He would send the Holy Spirit as a comforter to us after He was gone. The Spirit convicts us when we are going astray and the Spirit teaches us. The Holy Spirit brings joy into our lives, emboldens us and helps us to be more like Jesus.
John 14:26
But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.
Romans 9:1
[ Paul’s Anguish Over Israel ] I speak the truth in Christ—I am not lying, my conscience confirms it through the Holy Spirit—
Luke 12:12
for the Holy Spirit will teach you at that time what you should say.
Acts 13:52
And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit.
Acts 4:31
And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.
Luke 10:21
At that time Jesus, full of joy through the Holy Spirit, said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do.
I can trust the prompting of the Holy Spirit when I have been faithful in learning about Him and how He will guide me. The Holy Spirit will NEVER lead me to do something that is contrary to the Word of God. How will I know if something is contrary to the Word of God? That goes back to the last blog where I encouraged all of us to spend more time reading God’s Word in order to know Him better.
