More Time?

Busy, busy, busy!  One thing after another, there is always more to do.

I heard an interesting perspective today, “It’s not about time management, it’s about activity management.”

The light bulb flashed and I had an epiphany.  God created each day with 24 hours.  He has already organized the time.  He created seasons and night and day and even established weeks for us.  God has time under control.

Since we know that everything God created is perfect (He Himself declared it good, Genesis 1:4,10,12,18,21,25,31) then the problem cannot be time.

If the problem isn’t time then it makes sense that what we do with the time is the issue.  What activities are we allowing to consume our time?

I know that I’ve written on this before but it seems to be coming home to me repeatedly lately.  There have been days where I’ve caught myself longing for more hours in the day just to realize that they wouldn’t help as I would just fill them up with things to do.

Managing what we allow into our time is the key.  Deciding what is important and what is not will help us  to balance what we really need to be doing.  If you are a stay at home mum or work full time outside the home or are in ministry or any combination – identifying what we have to do and what we should do and what we can leave aside will determine how effectively you allow your activities to occupy your time.

The question to ask yourself is, are your activities building you up or are they stunting your growth?  If you are so busy that you don’t have time to do the important things then how can you grow?  How can you be healthy?  How can you fulfill God’s plan for you?

Today, take a look at what you are doing and decide if you are managing your activities in a way that allows you to maximize God’s plan for your time.

Matthew 11:28

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
